Bar and Restaurant Assistant

Job Title:	Bar and Restaurant Assistant
Main Purpose of Job:	Provide first class customer service whilst maximising Bar and Restaurant sales.
Responsible to:	Bar & Restaurant Manager

Main Tasks of Job:

1. Provide first class customer service – positive, upbeat and welcoming attitude. Put the customer first and ensure they experience the very best service.
2. Engage with customers to gain an understanding of who they are and what they would like.  Build a relationship with them to give the best chance of fulfilling their expectations and giving them the motivation to want to return.
3. Presentation and cleanliness of restaurant and bar area to be continuously immaculate and in line with brand guidelines.
4. Take reservations, ensuring record of bookings and customer contact details are correct and stored on electronic file.
5. Know the menu and understand what each dish is.  Talk to customers about the menu, explain daily specials and offer recommendations. This will also help with dietary requirements.
6. Take orders and serve ordered items to customers.
7. Plan the shifts – be organised and know who is doing what during service.
8. Stock control – ensure the bar is kept fully stocked to ensure maximum sales and professional presentation.
9. Consistency of how drinks are served – use correct glasses, condiments and garnishes.
10. Create an atmosphere – approved music playlists to be used, with major sporting events on TVs.
11. Paperwork is maintained eg. wastage sheets.
12. Personal presentation – uniform to be worn, name badge, hair tied back, clean and tidy appearance.
13. High motivation and use of initiative to ensure every opportunity to improve customer satisfaction is achieved.
14. Carry out duties in a safe, efficient and lawful manner at all times.
15. Comply with the Company’s Health and Safety policy and procedures.
16. Co-operate closely with other departments or sections of the Company as required.
