Going out for a walk in the fresh air really does do wonders.
It’s well documented that spending time in a natural environment has a positive effect on our emotional and physical wellbeing: it reduces blood pressure, muscle tension and boosts our mood.
Our 80 acres of woodland provide a perfect escape at any time of year. There’s the first sighting of bluebells and primroses in springtime. The bees, butterflies and vibrant greens of summer. A beautiful, bold burst of colour in autumn. Everything sprinkled with snow in winter. Whatever the season, it’s a magical place to be.
The trees in our mature woodland include oak, beech, Scots Pine and horse chestnut; plant species range from ferns and mosses to blackthorn and rhododendrons. This rich and diverse habitat supports a wealth of wildlife: birds, insects and animals including woodpeckers, nuthatches, owls, ladybirds, beetles, squirrels and hedgehogs. If you’re really lucky, you’ll catch a glimpse of our resident muntjac deer.
